Preliminary remarks and scope

In the following, we provide information about the collection of personal data when using our apps and website (together also referred to as "offers"). A distinction is made between the functions of the "Timelines" product ("Timelines") and the website, which currently only contains information about the "Timelines" product.

Personal data is all data that can be related to you personally, e.g. name, address, e-mail addresses, user behaviour.

I. General information

All references to articles refer to articles of the General Data Protection Regulation GDPR (e.g. "Article 6(1a)"), also if not explicitly mentioned.

II. Your rights

(1) You have the following rights in relation to the personal data concerning you:

  • Right to information,
  • Right of correction or deletion,
  • Right to restrict processing,
  • Right to object to the processing,
  • Right to data portability.

(2) You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority about the processing of your personal data by us.

III. Processing of data

(1) Use of personal data when users use the functions of Timelines

    a) If you use the functions of Timelines and conclude a contract for this, we process various data. These are in particular:

  • Data of the user - as specified during registration -
  • Events and Values set / entered and managed by the user via the functions of timelines in timelines
  • Data that is collected and stored/managed by other functions of timelines.

    b) The data processing is cloud-based and is carried out by the service provider "AWS" - Amazon Webservices, which is used by Timelines. For this purpose, data processing agreement has been concluded. The data is stored on AWS servers in Germany. Details can be found at: https://aws.amazon.com/de/compliance/gdpr-center/

    c) The legal basis for the processing of the data is Art. 6 1b) GDPR.

(2) Collection and processing of data by us when using our offers

    a) Accesses to our offers and retrievals of contents are statistically recorded for internal purposes. The following will be logged: Name of the retrieved file, date and time of the retrieval, transferred data volume, notification of successful retrieval, web browser, IP address and linking domain. We delete this data within a period of 30 days after your visit.

    b) In addition to the data mentioned above, cookies are stored on your computer when you use our website. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard drive in accordance with the browser you are using and through which certain information is transmitted to the site that sets the cookie (in this case, by us). Cookies cannot execute programs or transfer viruses to your computer. They are used to make the Internet offer as a whole more user-friendly and effective.

c)we use cookies for example to better understand how our website/offers/apps are used and to improve their attractiveness, content and functionality. Cookies help us, for example, to determine whether and which sub-pages of our website are visited and what content users are interested in, and to evaluate this information for statistical purposes.

A distinction can be made in particular between-
temporary cookies and
persistent cookies

Temporary cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser, for example. This includes in particular session cookies. These store a so-called session ID, with which various requests from your browser can be assigned to the shared session. This enables your computer to be recognized when you return to our website. The session cookies are deleted when you log out or close the browser.

Persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a specified period of time, which may vary depending on the cookie. You can delete the cookies in the security settings of your browser at any time. You can also view the lifetime of a cookie in the browser security and privacy sections.

The cookies set by us have a maximum life span of one year.

    d) If you wish, you can deactivate the use of cookies at any time via the settings of your Internet browser. Please use the help functions of your Internet browser to find out how to change these settings.

    e) The legal basis for the processing operations described above is the fulfilment of the contract pursuant to Article 6 lit 1c), insofar as this concerns the provision of the offer itself, and legitimate interests pursuant to Article 6 lit 1f), since we use this data for security reasons (e.g. to prevent hacker attacks). Your interest as a user is protected, as you cannot be identified by these measures. You can object to this processing by deactivating cookies in your browser. This can lead to restrictions in the usability of our offer.

(3) Analysis/ Analysis tools

Google Analytics

Our offers use Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses so-called "cookies", text files which are stored on your end device and which enable an analysis of your use of the offer. The information generated by the cookie about your use of our offers is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, in the event that IP anonymisation is activated on the website, your IP address will be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On our behalf, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the offer, to compile reports on the activities and to provide further services to the operator in connection with the use and use of the Internet. The IP address transmitted by your browser within the framework of Google Analytics is not combined with other data from Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) to Google and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available under the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

IP anonymization is activated on this website.

We use Google Analytics to evaluate your use of our offers. Your IP address is only processed in a shortened form and you can object to this procedure.

The legal basis for the processing (analysis) referred to above is a consent given by you according to Art. 6, lit 1a) (if granted). You can revoke this consent at any time.

(4) email contact and customer service

When you contact us by e-mail or via a contact form, the data you provide (your e-mail address, your name and telephone number if applicable) will be stored by us in order to answer your questions. We delete the data arising in this connection after storage is no longer necessary or restrict processing if there are legal storage obligations.

(5) Use and disclosure of personal data for business inquiries

  1. a) As far as you have provided us with personal data, we will only use it for the processing of contracts concluded with you and for technical administration. We do not pass on the personal data transmitted to us to third parties, as long as a transfer or disclosure is not necessary within the scope of the execution or the data is required due to legal obligations at superordinate positions.

The same applies to enquiries from third parties that reach us in a business context (potential contractual partners or other third parties).

  1. b) We also use data for internal purposes to contact customers and for customer service. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 lit. 1f) ("legitimate interests"). We have a legitimate interest in maintaining and analyzing our customer relationship. This corresponds to our business interests. Your rights as a user are protected, since you either have a contractual relationship with us or contact us for business reasons. Your data will be deleted if they are no longer required to achieve the purpose. Enquiries from private individuals - outside of existing contractual relationships - are usually deleted immediately after we have replied. You can object to processing at any time with effect for the future.

Legal regulations and restrictions regarding the sending of advertising by email remain unaffected and will of course be observed by us.

(6) Obligation to provide personal data:

When visiting our website, the user is not obliged to provide personal data. A contract is not concluded with the user. Non-provision has no consequences for the user.

If you conclude a contract with us for the use of Timelines functions, this can only take place if we receive the data required for the conclusion of the contract from you.

(7) Transfer of data to third countries

If and insofar as data is to be transferred to third countries (here USA) (e.g. Google), it is registered under the regulations of the US Privacy Shield (see https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant_search)

(8) List of cookies

The following cookies are used. The expiry dates refer to the expiry without updating the cookie. Cookies are regularly updated when offers are called up again, so that the runtime then starts again.

(9) Language Versions

In cases of contradictions between the German and the English language version of this privacy policy, the German version prevails.
